AYSO United Tryout Registration are open!
TRYING OUT
Please arrive early prior to the start of the tryout. This allows each athlete time to relax and clear their emotions before the tryout process begins. We find that this helps each player be at their best when not rushing around the day of tryouts. Also, every player trying out must come prepared with the following:
POST-TRYOUT PROCESS
A player who tries out for AYSO United Michigan will receive a phone call and email from the one of the AYSO United club staff members or coaches letting him/her know the status of being placed on a team within 24 hours. Players/Parents will be contacted in a timely manner after the tryouts to confirm the player has accepted the offer for a spot on the team to get their commitment. In the event the player does not make a team or no team was formed, feedback about the player’s tryout and options will be given.
WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?
After the last tryout, we will form the teams as well as finalize the coaching assignments. We have “tentatively slated” coaches to teams prior to tryouts, but we cannot officially assign them until the team is formed. After the teams are formed, players will be given instructions to register and make their first payment. Then, the club will set up meetings with teams to go over the program in more depth.
WHAT COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED?
Tryouts happen once a year as instructed by MSYSA, and when you are asked to join an AYSO United team, we are asking you to play the fall season and spring season. Our expectations are in line with other clubs and we realize it takes time for players to gel together as a team, as well as the time it takes for proper Player Development. It is for that reason that the commitment is for both Fall and Spring seasons. Exceptions are limited but would include: High school half season athletes where girls play club in fall, boys play club in spring.
WHAT PAYMENTS ARE REQUIRED POST TRYOUT?
The fees for the program need to be paid in full once teams are formed. Each member of the team will receive a welcome email from our Club Registrar once rosters are completed by the Coaching Staff.
AYSO United does offer other payment plans and arrangements to our members who meet certain criteria. For more information on those programs, contact our Club Registrar. Thank you for considering AYSO United Michigan as a home for your child to play soccer.
HOW DO WE ORDER UNIFORM KITS?
Once team rosters are finalized, AYSO United will host a registration event where all new incoming athletes will be fitted for their Uniform kits. Parents will fill out the registration paperwork and meet other Players, Coaches and Club Staff. At this event, the Kit package each athlete is required to have will be expressed to you. (I.e. ELITE teams and above may be required to have additional Uniform Kit accessories). Parents will then receive an email from the Club with a direct AYSO United West Michigan Soccer.com website link for each athlete with the ability to order each required item.
REFUND POLICY
When your player accepts a spot on a AYSO United team, he/she is filling a roster spot and making a commitment to the team for an entire playing year. Each team is formed from a verbal or written commitment, and is finalized with the league when enrollment has been completed. Withdrawing may leave the team in jeopardy of not meeting league rules for minimum number of players. Therefore, when you make your verbal commitment to the coach and make your enrollment/payment to the club, the following situations will apply.
NON-INJURY refund policy
Players who withdraw from a team after enrolling/registering - no refund.
INJURY refund policy
Club fees are considered payment for the player to hold a roster spot on the team.
Therefore the following will apply:
• PLAYER IS INJURED BEFORE SEASON AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN:
If the player is injured PRIOR to the first practice and can no longer participate with the team through its entirety, the player should send a written refund request and a doctor’s note explaining the injury. The AYSO United Directors will review and issue a full Club fee refund minus any administrative costs involved in initial rostering. The player will be removed from the team roster so another player can take that spot.
• PLAYER IS INJURED DURING SEASON AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RETURN:
If the player is injured AFTER the season has begun and can no longer participate with the team through its entirety, the player should send a written refund request BEFORE the 4th game of the season in which the injury occurred. The request should include a doctor’s note explaining the injury. The AYSO United Directors will review this and award a partial Club fee refund depending on the timing of the injury to the season(s) completion. The player will be removed from the team roster and may not participate in any team activities. If a player is unsure whether they will be able to return to play, please view the next option.
• PLAYER IS INJURED AND WILL RETURN TO PLAY BEFORE END OF PLAYING YEAR:
If the player is injured and wishes to remain on the team roster and participate in any activities they are able to, or they wish to come back to the team after their injury is healed, there is no refund available for Club fees. If they are unable to return by the end of the playing year, a partial credit of player fees may be requested for the following playing year.
• SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES:
Refunds for certain circumstances (moving, loss of employment, etc.) will be reviewed on an individual basis and documentation is required to be considered by the Directors.
