TRYING OUT

In accordance with MSYSA and GVSA’s decision regarding the upcoming tryouts for the upcoming 2020-21 season, AYSO United Michigan will be offering team placement decisions starting in June. There will be no IN PERSON tryouts for the upcoming season. However, we will have a platform available for potential incoming players to do a virtual tryout. Some returning AYSO United players may be asked to also do a virtual tryout as well by our coaching staff. ALL players will have an equal opportunity to be place on an AYSO United Michigan team REGARDLESS of incoming or returning player. We are committed to our core philosophies and believe everyone deserves a fair opportunity to join our club family. We want to show people why “A BETTER CLUB AWAITS”.

  • Positions on a team will be offered by the following schedule. Between June 1-12, players who were rostered with AYSO United Michigan for the 2019-20 season will be able to re-commit to our club for the 2020-21 season. Coaches or club staff will be reaching out to them during this timeframe.
  • Starting June 15, AYSO United Michigan will welcome outside players to take part in our Virtual Tryouts and be considered for our Select/Elite Select teams for the 2020-21 season. We WILL provide an equal opportunity to be rostered on a team.

In order to be considered for a spot on an AYSO United Michigan team for the 2020-21 season, ALL players, INCLUDING RETURNING AYSO UNITED PLAYERS must be registered for a tryout below. Please make sure to fill out all information accurately so we are able to best assess each athlete prior to commitment calls and Virtual tryout requests.

As we navigate this fluid changing situation we appreciate your patience and flexibility. We can’t wait to show you “WHY A BETTER CLUB AWAITS!”

POST-TRYOUT PROCESS

A player who tries out for AYSO United will receive a phone call and email from the one of the AYSO United club staff members or coaches letting him/her know the status of being placed on a team.  Players/Parents will be contacted in a timely manner after the tryouts to confirm the player has accepted the offer for a spot on the team to get their commitment.

WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?

After the last tryout we will form the teams and also finalize the coaching assignments. We have “tentatively slated” coaches to teams prior to tryouts, but we cannot officially assign them until the team is formed. After the teams are formed, players will be given instructions to register and make their first payment. Then the club will set up meetings with teams to go over the program in more depth.

WHAT COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED?

Tryouts happen once a year as instructed by MSYSA, and when you are asked to join an AYSO United team, we are asking you to play the fall season and spring season. Our expectations are in line with other clubs and we realize it takes time for players to gel together as a team. As well as the time it takes for proper Player Development. It is for that reason that the commitment is for both Fall and Spring seasons. Exceptions are limited but would include: High school half season athletes where Girls play club in fall, Boys play club in spring.

WHAT PAYMENTS ARE REQUITED POST TRYOUT?

The fees for the program need to be paid in full once teams are formed. Each member of the team will receive a welcome email from our Club Registrar once rosters are completed by the Coaching Staff.

AYSO United does offer other payment plans and arrangements to our members who meet certain criteria. For more information on those programs contact our Club Registrar. Thank you for considering AYSO United West Michigan as a home for your child to play soccer.

HOW DO WE ORDER PLAYER UNIFORM KITS?

Once team rosters are finalized, AYSO United will host a registration event where all new incoming athletes will be fitted for their Uniform kits. Parents will fill out the registration paperwork and meet other Players, Coaches and Club Staff. At this even the Kit package each athlete is required to have will be expressed to you. (I.e. ELITE teams and above may be required to have additional Uniform Kit accessories) Parents will then receive an email from the Club with a direct AYSO United West Michigan Soccer.com website for each athlete with the ability to order each required item.
