AYSO United Coach - Mike Burns



BACKGROUND

I grew up in England, a Country that lives and breathes Soccer (Football). My family has always been huge fans, and as a child I would go with my Dad to watch various teams play. I have also played the game recreationally from an early age. School teams, clubs, and men’s indoor teams. Now as a Coach for two AYSO United Teams. GEO 05 & Boys & GEO 07, I get to give back, and at the same time watch my two boys grow and develop in this beautiful game!

PHILOSOPHY

I truly believe in the AYSO United Philosophy. So naturally this aligns with my own coaching Philosophy. Players learn the most when they are in a player-centered environment. This starts with a positive relationship with the coach through positive coaching as well as an open and honest dialogue and feedback.
I strive to make each training session and game, both challenging and fun which will allow players to learn and enjoy the sport.
I believe that a player’s development is ultimately in the player’s hands, and as a coach I will provide the best environment and coaching support to ensure each player reaches their maximum potential.

SOCCER COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Taking my AYSO United U10 team from division 4 in the GVSA League to Elite level at U13.
Taking my AYSO United U13 team from division 3 in GVSA League to Elite at U15.
Winning our division in the Soccer in the Sand 2019 Tournament, Grand Haven Michigan
Receiving AYSO United Coach of the Year Award for 2018.

SOCCER HIGHLIGHT

It’s always a highlight, and special moment when either of my AYSO United Teams records a much deserved win against other successful local Club team. This has happened many times over the seasons.
Personally, I had the pleasure of working for the players of the Arsenal Teams of 1996-1998. This was as a server at the hotel in the team’s training ground.

As a coach. A fond memory is the excitement our AYSO United Team had when we won our division in the 2019 Grand Haven Soccer in the Sand Tournament, and watching the players receive their Gold Medals!
